Hi! I’m Kim Hazelton, OTR/L. I’ve been a Pediatric Occupational Therapist for over 27 years, and I have a private pediatric therapy practice in the beautiful, sunny Tampa Bay area.
Fresh out of high school, I got an Associate’s degree in Accounting, and spent the next 8 years traveling the country with my military husband, working in banks and small businesses, and chasing my Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy.
I have used my ancient knowledge I gained in my Accounting and business experiences to help me run my private practice, but I still made mistakes in decision-making because I didn’t have any tools to navigate! Over the years, I utilized my love of spreadsheets, numbers, and sense of control to create the tools in the TheraPilot System. They have allowed me to know more securely where my business stood at any point in time, what was trending in my business, and if I needed to take action to change direction. I shared these tools with a few other practice owners, and they immediately reported an increased sense of power and confidence over the management and operations of their businesses!
When I told a dear friend (and Veteran) what I was intending to do with these tools, he suggested the TheraPilot name. He knew my husband was a retired Army Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) helicopter pilot, and he knew that name would have special meaning to us.
If you think about it, we are on a special mission as well. We develop a plan of care to help our patients achieve their goals, feel better, and improve their lives (reach their target). We need to do this in our own lives and businesses as well, or we will not be able to keep our doors open to keep helping our precious patients.
